After the Workflow Check, the services build on one another – but you can also commission them individually. We define scope and effort in the proposal.

Our services

Step 1 is the Workflow Check. The following services build on it.

Workflow Analysis

Goes beyond the check and captures several workflows or an entire area – tool-neutral and together with the business unit and IT.

Result: a documented analysis with a process map and a prioritised list of workflows.

  • Capture workflows: steps, participants, systems, handovers, deadlines and waiting times
  • Identify weak points: interruptions, manual rework, lack of traceability, unmonitored deadlines
  • Process map with dependencies and the systems involved
  • Suitability for automation per workflow, with benefit, effort and recommended order

Workflow Architecture

Defines how the workflows are implemented and operated reliably.

Result: a documented architecture on which the implementation builds.

  • Target picture: which workflows are orchestrated, which systems are involved, who is responsible for what
  • Workflow design: what counts as a step and what may be retried after an error
  • Error handling: retries, timeouts and compensation for steps already completed
  • Deadlines, waiting times and interventions such as approval, pause or cancellation
  • Versioning, so that changes do not disrupt running workflows
  • System integration, operation and demarcation from existing systems or a process suite

Implementation

We program workflows with Temporal – independently or together with your development team.

Result: working, tested workflows in your environment.

  • new workflows according to the agreed architecture, with automated tests
  • replacement of existing workflows, for example scheduled jobs, queues or home-grown workflow engines – step by step, with old and new running side by side for a while
  • handover to your team with a walkthrough of the code

Operations set-up

Temporal needs a server that stores the state of the workflows. We set up one of the two options.

Result: a working environment with documentation for operation by your team.

  • self-hosted on Kubernetes, with PostgreSQL as the database and a tried-and-tested upgrade procedure
  • or connection to Temporal Cloud, the service from Temporal Technologies
  • set-up of namespaces and access

Training

For development teams, one to two days, tailored to prior knowledge and use case.

  • Basic concepts and how Temporal works
  • Writing and testing workflows and activities
  • Signals, timers, retries, compensation and versioning
  • Troubleshooting and the basics of operation

Clearly defined scope

What you contribute

  • documentation on the workflows and the necessary access
  • one person responsible on the business side and one on the technical side
  • a test environment with no impact on production
  • time from those involved for workshops, questions and feedback

What is not included

  • round-the-clock operation and on-call duty – we set up operations but do not take them over
  • support for Temporal itself – this lies with Temporal Technologies and the open-source community
  • licences and subscriptions for Temporal Cloud – you obtain these directly

Frequently asked questions

How is billing handled?

On a time-and-materials basis at a daily rate, based on an estimate in the proposal. If you wish, we can agree a pool of days. The Workflow Check has a fixed price.

Can I commission individual services?

Yes. The services build on one another but can be commissioned individually – for example, just a training course or a review.

Do you implement only with Temporal?

Yes. The analysis is tool-neutral; if a process suite is a better fit for a workflow, we will say so. Our implementations use Temporal.

What is Temporal Cloud?

The service operated by Temporal Technologies – the alternative to a self-hosted Temporal server.
